Aashish Gaurav is a highly skilled and experienced chemical engineer with a Ph.D. in chemical engineering and over 7 years of experience in process and petroleum engineering engagements for Oil and Gas, fuel-additive, and reactor design firms. He is proficient in process design and modeling and has demonstrated excellence in fields of green engineering, oil sands, refinery modeling, fuel additives and fuel chemistry, emissions control, IP development, and regulatory compliance. Aashish has a diverse range of experiences and has developed a strong skill-set in process modeling and simulation, fuel quality and regulations, equipment sizing, cost engineering and design optimization, waste reduction and emission cuts calculations, benchmarking unit performance, PFD’s, P&ID diagrams, performance analysis and feasibility studies, data analytics, statistical modeling, market assessments, strategy development, and creating business opportunities. He is also certified in WHIMS, First Aid, Laboratory Safety, TDG, Concepts in Biosafety, and Chemical Safety. Currently, Aashish is working as a Research Engineer, Feedstock Solutions, and Sustainability at Nova Chemicals, where he is supporting Nova's sustainability initiatives in circular plastics production by replacing fossil-based routes with renewable sources leading to a superior environmental footprint. His activities include evaluating current technologies in the plastics recycling space, scouting partner opportunities amongst available technologies, technology providers, and solution providers, supporting process design, scale-up, and costs and emission analysis for bringing new recycled products to market, and communicating results and recommendations to the team and management, document results in reports. Previously, Aashish worked as a Research Engineer, Petrochemicals at Nova Chemicals, where he was involved in a range of R&D, process engineering and design, feasibility studies, and development projects relating to technologies in plastics recycling and circular economy and natural gas valorization to ethylene and petrochemicals. He was responsible for analyzing and experimental studies assessing the feasibility of different chemical processes and components to support scale-up to larger demonstrations and eventual commercialization. Aashish has also worked as an R&D and Technology Consultant at Fuel Improvers Inc., where he researched and developed applications of new additive chemistry, collaborated with engine or transmission manufacturers, and formulated new product platforms to meet emerging market needs. Aashish has a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
